Prepare for a THREE-day protest from next week, Azimio tells government

Azimio to hold anti-government protest for three consecutive days begining next week according to ODM Sec Gen Edwin Sifuna

Azimio to hold anti-government protest for three consecutive days begining next week according to ODM Sec Gen Edwin Sifuna.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has hinted at the Azimio coalition stepping up its anti-government protests from next week.

Speaking while appearing on a Citizen TV, Sifuna indicated that their decision was informed by what he called a lack of the Kenya kwanza led administration listening to Kenyans.

The ODM Sec Gen said the THREE weekly protests will take place from Monday to Wednesday and will end only when President William Ruto agrees to review the contentious Finance Act 2023.

“From next week, three days straight of maandamano, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday until William Ruto understands the people are suffering and repeals this law the same way that he imposed it upon them,” he said.

He warned the government threatened to arrest Azimio leaders over the protests.

“Nobody is going to threaten us. There is nothing these people (Kenya Kwanza) have not said. There is nothing they can scare us with. If it is arrest we are ready to be arrested,” noted Sifuna.

“Kenya Kwanza cannot order for the arrest of Raila,” he added.

Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki in a statement yesterday vowed to arrest all the enablers of the demonstrations.

“The government has tonight mobilized all law enforcement agencies of the state and the institutions of our country’s criminal justice system to conclude investigations urgently and proceed to the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the [planning and execution of the crimes,“ said Kindiki
