Presidential aspirant burns voters card after being disqualified to vie

Presidential aspirant Muthiora Kariara burns voters card after being denied clearance to vie for the August elections.

Presidential aspirant Muthiora Kariara presented his nomination papers to the IEBC at the Bomas of Kenya for clearance on Monday but failed the test.

Commission’s chairperson Wafula Chebukati said Kariara submitted “a bundle of copies of ID cards for unspecified counties”.

Out of the 20 supporters’ list which he submitted, Chebukati said, only 19 counties were found to be compliant with the set regulations.

His running mate also did not have a signed code of conduct which is one of the mandatory documents required for clearance, he added.

Muthiora Kiriara was to vie as an independent candidate in the August general elections.
