Foreign and Diaspora Affairs PS Korir Singóei has expressed outrage over the manner Nandi Hill MP Alfred Keter was reportedly arrested in Nairobi.

This cones after reports in various media outlets said Keter was abducted by unknown people around Lavington area on Sunday afternoon.

A video doing rounds on social media shows a man purported to be Keter being pulled out of a Toyota Landcruiser V8 in broad daylight as other road users look on.

Following the incident, Singóei took to social media to express his disappointment at the occurrence.

“There is a procedure for effecting an arrest. This is not one of them. We must resist the temptation to adopt extra-legal means even in the pursuit of legitimate objectives,” he stated.

Keter has been a fierce critic of President William Ruto and his administration.

His abduction comes at a time when pressure is mounting on authorities to stop abducting Kenyans opposed to the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Last week, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leadership handed over a report on 39 missing persons from the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

LSK and Azimio said they continue to receive reports from families of people who participated in the protests and cannot be accounted for.

Several people are still nursing injuries in different hospitals across the country even as LSK vows to seek legal redress on behalf of all who have been affected.

This comes even after the High Court issued an order directing the Director of Public Prosecutions, Attorney General, DCI, and National Intelligence Service to immediately and unconditionally release all social media users allegedly abducted after expressing their dissatisfaction with the unpopular 2024 Finance Bill.
