PSC issues notice to clerical officers ahead of proficiency exams

In a notice on Tuesday, July 29, the commission said the examinations will be conducted at designated centers in Machakos, Nyeri, Mombasa, Embu, Garissa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kakamega, and Eldoret.
However, PSC said specific venues within the towns will be communicated to registered candidates upon successful completion of the registration process.
To be eligible for registration, applicants must meet certain criteria, including a minimum mean grade of C- (minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.
Additionally, they must currently hold the position of Clerical Officer in the Public Service and must have served in that capacity for at least one year.
PSC added that registration for the exam requires candidates attempting the examination for the first time to complete FORM A, while those retaking any part of the exam must fill FORM B.
Candidates are required to submit completed forms along with the government copy of the payment receipt, generated from the e-Citizen platform, to the Secretary/Chief Executive of the Public Service Commission at P.O. Box 30095-00100, Nairobi.
All documents must reach the commission on or before Friday, August 22.
The cost structure for registration remains aligned with the revised rates outlined in PSC circular Ref PSC.EXAM/1/VOL.11 dated May 3, 2018.
According to PSC, each candidate is expected to pay a basic fee of Ksh2,625, an additional Ksh875 per paper for up to seven papers, and a Ksh50 e-Citizen service charge.
All payments must be made through the e-Citizen platform by accessing https://psc.ecitizen.go.ke.

Once logged in, applicants must follow a step-by-step application process, including selecting their exam type and center, confirming personal details, and submitting the application for PSC approval.
Once approved, payment can be completed, and the official receipt downloaded for attachment to the registration form.
PSC added that late registration will be permitted until Friday, August 29 but will attract an extra charge of Ksh525.
Meanwhile, the PSC has also announced that certificates for candidates who passed the September 2024 Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers are now ready for collection.
Eligible officers are advised to collect their certificates at the Public Service Commission House during official working hours, presenting original identification documents.
Additionally, officers who passed earlier promotional examinations but have not yet collected their certificates are encouraged to do so.
