Putin congratulates William Ruto after being declared as the President-Elect of the republic of Kenya by the IEBC.

Russia has joined other foreign states to congratulate William Ruto on his victory in the just concluded general elections.

Russia expressed optimism about continuing and expanding its extensive and beneficial collaboration with Kenya through a statement issued by its embassy in Kenya.

“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kenya has the honour to congratulate H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto upon the announcement of him being elected as President of Kenya,” reads the statement .

Russia stated that they are confident that the friendly relations between out two countries and people will be reinvigorated and further strengthened.

Russia becomes the latest foreign country to congratulate William Ruto with other African countries sending their congratulatory remarks.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday declared Ruto as the president- elect after he garnered 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49 percent of the total vote, while his rival, Raila Odinga got 6,942,930, which was 48.85 per cent of the vote.

However, Raila has rejected the presidential results accusing the IEBC of tampering and tinkering with election results.
