In a statement on Thursday, June 26, the retailer confirmed that two branches, located at OTC and Ruiru, had been affected by the demonstrations but denied any loss of life at the premises.
“Contrary to misleading information circulating on digital platforms, we wish to assure the public that no staff, customers, or any other individuals were injured or deceased at the two outlets.
“The safety and security of our employees, customers, and the wider community remain our top priorities,” the statement read.
Quickmart acknowledged the operational difficulties caused by the unrest but reiterated its commitment to resuming normal operations.
“While we recognize that the recent events have posed a significant challenge for these outlets, we want to emphasize that Quickmart is deeply committed to restoring normalcy as swiftly as possible.
“We are actively engaging all necessary measures to ensure continued service excellence and to support our shoppers and staff during this time,” the statement added.

To its customers, Quickmart assured that efforts are underway to stabilize operations and encouraged those affected to use nearby outlets.
“Quickmart remains dedicated to caring for our community and will continue to keep the public informed as we work towards stability and recovery. In the meantime, customers of the two branches are advised to access our services at their nearest alternative Quickmart branch,” the statement concluded.
Quickmart, Naivas Supermarket, and Co-Operative Bank are among the top businesses that were affected by the chaotic Wednesday protests.
In its statement, Co-operative Bank confirmed that two of its branches in Nairobi were affected during the protests.
The bank noted that branches located in Githurai and Dagoretti Market were attacked during the demos.
“Co-op Bank notes that two of our branches in Githurai and Dagoretti market were affected during the demonstrations yesterday,” read the statement from the bank.
The bank, however, reassured the public that there were no injuries reported among staff or customers, and that only a minimal cash loss occurred from one of the affected ATMs.
“We advise that there were no injuries to any of our customers or staff, with minimal cash loss from one of the ATMs,” the bank added.
