Raila campaign billboard vandalized in Bomet

Raila campaign billboard vandalized by unknown goons in Deputy President William Ruto’s home tuff, Bomet County.

The billboards depicting Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua were up early Thursday morning and vandalized later that day.

Police from the Bomet Central sub-county, Musa Imamai The billboard had been defaced, according to Musa Imamai, although the incident had not yet been recorded.

Bomet Central sub-county police Musa Imamai confirmed the incident but noted that the matter was yet to be reported.

“We are just observing like anyone else,” he said.

He said police will commence investigations once a report will be made appealing to anyone who might be having information about those who damaged it to report to his office.

He called on the residents to exercise restraint, saying they do not encourage such actions that amount to malicious damage to property.

Several Azimio supporters have however pointed a finger at DP William Ruto and his supporters over the incident.

The incident happens in the wake of reports that a similar campaign billboard with Deputy President William Ruto’s portrait was also vandalized in Kisumu but some accused Ruto of using it to play the ‘victim card’. 

The Azimio supporters accused Ruto and his team of erecting the billboard only to destroy it later so as to blame Azimio supporters.
