Raila continues to lead as Ruto’s popularity dips by 8 percent according to the latest Infotrak opinion polls.

Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga continues to lead in poll rating for Nairobi County as those of his main rival DP William Ruto drop.

According to opinion polls released by Infotrak on Wednesday, July 6, Raila’s rating stood at 49 percent up from 42 percent in the previous opinion poll.

Ruto’s popularity stood at 30 percent down from 38 percent in Nairobi county.

George Wajackoyah’s popularity is also growing with the Roots Party presidential candidate recording a five percent approval rating. 

Agano Party’s David Waihiga recorded a 0.3 percent popularity rate. 

The most often cited arguments in favor of Raila among respondents were his background in development and experience at 70 percent compared to Ruto’s 45 percent.

However, some of the responders hinted that they were backing the Deputy President because of his intentions for the nation receiving41% of the vote compared to Raila’s 19%.

Popularity by gender

Raila Odinga and his running mate, Martha Karua, received the majority of votes from the male gender (52 percent) as opposed to female (47 percent).

Ruto and his running mate, Rigathi Gachagua received 30 percent votes from the male gender as opposed to 29 percent from the female gender.

Popular party

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of Raila Odinga is the most popular political party with 51 percent, followed by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of William Ruto at 31 percent. 

Jubilee Party comes third with eight percent. 

On coalitions, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leads at 48 percent followed by Kenya Kwanza with 31 percent. 

Nairobi gubernatorial race

According to the survey, Johnston Sakaja is leading in popularity at 39%, followed closely by his main challenger Polycarp Igathe of Jubilee, who has 33%. 

In the Senatorial contest Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary-general Edwin Sifuna is leading with 44% 

UDA party’s Margaret Wanjiru comes in a distant second with 12 %. 

ODM party’s Esther Passaris leads in the Woman Representative contest with 46%, while UDA’s nominated senator Millicent Omanga has 20%. 

The poll was conducted through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews with a sample size of 1,024 Kenyans. 

Infotrak targetted persons aged 18 years and above. 

It covered all the 17 constituencies and 85 wards of Nairobi county.
