Raila denied entry into Shakahola Forest with the police asking him to seek permission from the Inspector General.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga was on Friday, 5, May, 2022 denied entry into Shakahola Forest.

The security officers declined to allow him into the forest with the operation commander asking him to seek permission from the Inspector General.

“I want to access the forest so that I can be able to see the graves, I can’t travel all the way and go back without seeing the scene,” Raila insisted.

The commander however said that the area has been declared a crime scene and allowing him through could interfere with the ongoing investigations.

“No one is allowed in the forest because the [investigation] process is delicate,” said Peter Ndung’u, the senior assistant inspector general of police.

Raila was in the company of Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Friday landed in Shakahola but was denied entry into the forest-the scene of the mass graves.

The Azimio leader was accompanied by local politicians including Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu.

Myanzi questioned why police why they blocked Raila from accessing the Shakahola forest yet he was a leader in the country.

“Tell us who should let us in?” If you are unable tell us,'” he said.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki had declared Shakahola an operation zone, meaning unauthorised people are not allowed to access the area.

Shakahola is the scene where more than 100 bodies have been exhumed.

The deaths are linked to a cult led by bishop Paul Mackenzie.
