Raila didn’t want to vie, Uhuru allegedly claims in a meeting with Luo and Luhya leaders

Uhuru allegedly claims in a meeting with Luo and Luhya leaders that Raila Odinga at first didn’t want to vie for the presidency.

With five days now remaining for the August polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta has been going around the country convincing voters to vote for the Azimio candidate Raila Odinga.

In his tour of Nyanza and Western regions, President Uhuru Kenyatta met Luo and Luhya leaders.

According to a publication by a local daily, Uhuru is alleged to have disclosed to the leaders that the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga was not eager to vie in this year’s, 2022 general election.

“He was not even interested in the presidency and anything else from my government”, Uhuru Allegedly said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta further reportedly revealed that they realized that there was no other formidable leader with the ability to honestly lead the country.

The president further said they realised there was no other candidate who beat DP Ruto and lead Kenya other than ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He added that during the handshake, there was nothing that the ODM leader Raila Odinga wanted for himself, only wanted peace and fair share of resources.

“There was nothing Raila Odinga wanted from him after the handshake but they (Uhuru and his team) realised there was no one who could beat DP William Ruto and lead the country in the right direction,” Uhuru reportedly said.

Uhuru Kenyatta told the Luo and Luhya leaders that though his heart is with Raila Odinga, it is up to Raila Odinga’s supporters to make the former Prime Minister the President.
