Raila claps back at DP Rigathi Gachagua over his disrespectful comments during a burial in Nyandarua County.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his remarks in Nyandarua County.

Raila called out Gachagua for being disrespectful and spreading tribal politics.

This comes during the burial of Mau Mau freedom fighter Brigadier John Kiboko in Ngorika village, Ol Kalou, the duo traded barbs over the ongoing dialogue.

Raila had called out Gachagua and his political lieutenants who had earlier termed dialogue between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja as the opposition’s plot for a coalition government.

“Now Riggy G (Rigathi) there is no problem with having dialogue. Let Kimani Ichungwa, Kalonzo Musyoka, and their teams have the talks. Even if we are not on the same page, just listen. You, President William Ruto, and I should step aside,” said Raila.

In a rejoinder, Gachagua said Azimio has no moral authority to lecture the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Where were you when projects stalled, when cash transfers for the aged stopped when fertilizer prices rose to Sh7,000? Why didn’t you hold protests during the handshake government?” said Gachagua.

The DP added: “Come we talk but you and your people cannot join our government. It is not possible because there is no constitutional provision and we can’t agree that you mess us up the way you did with Uhuru.”

Speaking in Kitengela after a joint service in the region, Raila responded back calling out Gachagua for lack of respect.

“Every day, he talks to me like we are age mates. He is disrespectful and keeps spreading tribal politics,” he complained.

Raila further said he had given time for the teams to hold talks in Bomas, warning if the dialogue fails, then, demonstrations will resume.

“Our team will hold dialogue in Bomas, but if they fail, we will blow the whistle. I will ask you to come out of the streets. We have given some time to Kalonzo and Ichung’wah to negotiate,” Raila said.
