Raila-Kalonzo campaigns in Machakos county as Karua takes Azimio gospel to Ruto’s home turf, the Rift valley region.

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga took his political campaigns to Machakos County.

Raila was accompanied by a host of local leaders including Wiper, Kalonzo Musyoka, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, her Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana, and Machakos gubernatorial candidates Wavinya Ndeti and former state house chief of staff Nzioka Waita among other leaders.

The leaders first attended a church service at the Masinga Catholic Church, where they addressed congregants afterward and had a series of political events in the region.

In his speech, Raila noted the prices of household commodities have skyrocketed and promised to lower them if elected president in the August polls

He said under his administration, the price of flour, cooking oil, and paraffin will be brought down to “bearable” standards.

“Flour prices will go down, even cooking oil and paraffin, we must bring it down. We have resolved to make the cost of living bearable to Kenyans. People have suffered enough,” he said.

Raila further reiterated his proposed social welfare program to low-income families across the country.

“Cases of children going without food will be unheard of again. Under the social protection program, these families will get money from the government. It has worked well in America, Europe, Brazil, India, Egypt, and even Namibia,” stated Odinga.

Meanwhile, his running mate Martha Karua took the Azimio campaigns in Uasin Gishu County, the home turf of DP William Ruto.

She was accompanied by Governor for Elgeyo Marakwet Alex Tolgos, nominated MP Maina Kamanda, CAS Beatrice Elachi, and Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi among other leaders.

Speaking at the Ayub Kinyua PCEA church in Eldoret Karua called on residents of Rift Valley and Kenyans to keep peace and unity before, during, and after the August 9, elections.

“We all children of one house called Kenya and competition like in politics should not cause disunity,” Karua said.

It’s the first time Karua is visiting the region after she was appointed as running mate to presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Karua had a series of roadside meetings at the main market in Eldoret and the main rally at Huruma grounds.
