Raila leads in two polls at 46.6%, and 52% against Ruto’s 45% and 44.4% according to the latest poll by TIFA and CAP.

In two separate opinion polls released today, 29, July, Azimio’s presidial candidate Raila Odinga is still favoured candidate compared to his main challenger, DP William Ruto.

According to a poll released by Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA), Raila leads at 46.7 percent, while DP Ruto is at 44.4 percent.

The poll also showed that Roots Party’s George Luchiri Wajackoyah has a popularity rating of 1.8 percent while Agano Party’s David Mwaure came last with a 0.1 percent approval rating.

In another poll by the Centre for African Progress, Raila has a popularity rating of 52 percent while Ruto has 45 percent.

Roots party presidential candidate Prof George Wajackoyah has 2 percent. 

According to the polls, Raila Odinga enjoys more support in Nyanza, Western, South Rift, Nairobi, and Lower Eastern regions, while William Ruto has a majority of support in Central Rift and Mt Kenya regions.

Raila also received more support from men than women, the exact opposite of DP Ruto. 

Raila’s support in Nairobi county stood at 51 percent, while Ruto’s at 34 percent.

“Those intending to vote for DP Ruto overwhelming mention one or another aspect of the economic situation,” the TIFA report read in part.

Meanwhile, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), affiliated with Ruto, maintained the top spot as the most popular political party with 41 percent, ODM with 34 percent, and Jubilee with 6 percent.

The survey was conducted in 9 zones; Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western.
