Raila lists grounds to invalidate Ruto’s win at Supreme Court after IEBC declaration in just concluded general elections.

Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga has vowed to challenge Ruto’s win at the Supreme Court after the IEBC declared the Deputy President as President-Elect.

According to a local publication, Azimio leader Raila Odinga has listed grounds why Ruto’s win should be nullified by the Supreme Court and a fresh presidential election held. 

The Azimio is reportedly working on a three-pronged strategy to contest the results declared by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati. 

Raila’s legal team has listed voter turnout, voting patterns and wrangles in the IEBC as main ground to invalidate presidential results.

The team is also said to be roping in the pre-election process covering voter register, procurement process and handling of IEBC sensitive matwerials.

Raila’s legal team notes that there were inconsistencies in the presidential result figures released by Chebukati on Monday, August 15, at the Bomas of Kenya 

Turnout: The electoral body stated that voter turnout stood at 65.4%, translating to 14,466,779. 

The Azimio team argued that his final tally was 140,028 votes less, excluding those who voted manually. 

Voting patterns: The coalition wondered why more Kenyans voted for the president compared to other seats. 

The coalition notes there was descripancies in votes tally for differents seats especially in mt Kenya where Ruto enjoys massive support.

Split commission: Raila’s team wants to know if the four ‘rebel’ commissioners led by vice-chair Juliana Cherera have more secrets in the bag after they disputed the results announced by their boss. 

During the announcement of presidential results, four of the IEBC commissioners disowned the results citing lack of involment in processing the results.
