Raila meets Mt Kenya politicians who lost in the August polls

Raila meets Mt Kenya politicians who lost in the August polls in the wake of the ongoing hearings of the presidential election petition at the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, August 31, Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua met for the first time with a group of Mount Kenya politicians who had lost in the August polls.

Raila meet the Mt Kenya politicians in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ongoing proceedings on the presidential election suit contesting William Ruto’s victory.

Despite losing the general election, they met with the leaders, according to Karua, as a gesture of support.

“I accompanied my Principal Raila Odinga to a meeting with Azimio leaders from Central Kenya,” Karua stated.

Regarding the ongoing case at the apex Court, Karua stated that the meeting was a clarion call to the leaders as they await the court verdict.

“It was great to note that belief in the power of our democracy is still strong; and that we are more united than ever in our march to justice,” she added.

The leaders present included Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia, former Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega, and former Majority Leader Amos Kimunya.

Others were former Nyeri Twon MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, ex-Igembe North MP Maoka Maore and Priscila Nyokabi.

Kanini Kega termed the team present as Raila and Karua’s foot soldiers in Mt. Kenya and affirmed that they were set to win the war.

“Baba’s Central infantry. We lost the battles but we shall win the war,” Kega stated.

The politicians were casualties of Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) wave that swept across the region, knocking off political veterans and kingpins.
