Raila meets President Cyril Ramaphosa during his one-week working tour to South Africa.

Former Prime Minister and Azimio leader, Raila Odinga has been in South Africa for a one-week working tour as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure.

While in South Africa, Raila was scheduled to assess the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa Priority Action Plan 2’s current state (PIDA-PAP2).

PIDA-PAP 2 consists of several strategic projects proposed by Regional Economic Communities and AU member States for implementation by 2030.

And on Tuesday met the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) chief executive Nardos Bekele in South Africa.

According to Raila, the meeting was held to explore ways in which African countries can collaborate on infrastructure development.

“Nardos Bekele-Thomas, CEO of NEPAD, and I met in Midrand, to explore ways to promote collaboration among African nations on infrastructure development,” he said.

“Our discussion was productive and I’m excited to continue working towards advancing Africa’s infrastructure.”

On Saturday, the opposition leader Raila Odinga met President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa at his private residence in Johannesburg.

Their meeting delved into matters of infrastructure in Africa and the upcoming Dakar Finance Summit.

On Sunday, he met South African Tourism minister Lindiwe Sisulu for a consultative meeting as part of his visit.

The two met in Midrand, South Africa.

Raila left the country on Friday last week for South Africa on a working tour as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Raila is expected to jet into the country on Monday, 23rd January.

Upon his return, the Azimio leader will head to the Kamukunji grounds, Nairobi, for a people’s baraza as the engagements he promised citizens after the General Election resume.

In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, January 21, his spokesperson Dennis Onyango said that Odinga is expected to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 11 am Monday.

“Mr. Odinga appeals to Kenyans to show up at the Kamukunji baraza, in the interest of the country,” reads a statement by his spokesman Denis Onyango.
