Raila Odinga claims an international criminal syndicate has infiltrated Kenya
Raila Odinga now claims an international criminal syndicate has infiltrated Kenya over alleged interference in the electoral system by the Venezuelans.
Raila Odinga, a presidential candidate for Azimio La Umoja, said that a transnational criminal organization has established roots in Africa.
Monday, August 30, in an interview with BBC Africa, Raila said his petition was for Africans and Kenyans.
Raila raised questions about Venezuelans who were arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with electoral materials on the eve of the August general elections.
“This is not just for Kenya but for Africa and the world. We are showing here that an international criminal syndicate has infiltrated the continent. You heard these stories about the Venezuelans who came here with expired passports supposedly having been hired by the chairman of the electoral commission without the knowledge of other members of the commission,” Raila stated.
Raila Odinga explained that it was a serious matter that required a universal response.
“They were found with sensitive materials which they did not declare. It is not a serious matter for Kenya alone but the African continent and requires a universal response,” he added.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga in his petition challenging presidential election results claimed the Venezuelans were used by the IEBC to interfere with the election material.
Accept Supreme Court ruling The Azimio leader explained that he would accept the apex court’s ruling, adding that they had a strong case.
The DCI in a forensic report dated August 5 revealed the three Venezuelans at the heart of the August 9 poll rigging claims may have infiltrated the IEBC system.
