Raila Odinga leads at 47 percent according to the latest Ipsos poll with only six days to the general election on 9, August.
According to an opinion poll by Ipsos, Raila Odinga has opened a 6-point gap lead with his main opponent DP Ruto at 41 percent.
Roots Party Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah came a distant third with a rating of 2.9 percent while Waihiga Mwaura has a rating of 0.2 percent.
According to Samuel Muthoka, the director of research at Ipsos, the number of undecided voters stands at 4 percent.
“From this research, if Raila Odinga converts half of the undecided voters he will have a first-round win while if Ruto converts half of the undecided voters, he will force a re-run of the election,” Mr. Muthoka said.
Raila Odinga’s lead in popularity was credited to his legacy.
However, it was noted that his age was identified as a liability.
“In terms of liability, those who will not vote for Raila stated that they will not vote for him because of the age factor.
“Those who will vote for Ruto stated they supported him because they believe he has a plan,” IPSOS stated.
