Raila revisits IEBC (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) issue over the 2022 presidential election results.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with religious leaders in Westlands, the Azimio leader questioned why the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is yet to post Form 34-C of the 2022 general elections.

“Presidential results have not been posted on Form 34-C to date. Why?

Nobody has ever explained why the results have never been gazetted to date. We can’t live a lie every day,” said Raila.

At the same time, Raila censured the government for requiring Kenyans to pay for National Identification cards or replace lost ones.

Raila said it was absurd for citizens to be asked to pay for documents showing they are Kenyans.

“Someone wants you to buy an ID to show that you are a Kenyan. How can you be asked to pay when your father and mother are all Kenyans,” he posed.

He said President William Ruto’s administration has lost direction by asking Kenyans to pay for documents like a national ID.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga warned elected Azimio politicians against early 2027 general election campaigns.

The Azimio leader gave an example of a member of the Kisumu County Assembly who has already started campaigns for a parliamentary seat in 2027.

“We don’t want to start early campaigns. The day other day, I went to Kisumu and met with an MCA who has announced intentions to become a Member of Parliament in 2027. It has been a year since the MCA was elected, and he has not done any significant action.

“I advised the MCA to focus on their current role, as it will elevate him if they aspire to be an MP. He should work diligently until 2026 before starting any campaign,” said Raila.

The former Prime Minister also called out an elected MP and Senator who have also started campaigning to become governors in the 2027 polls.

“If we proceed in that manner, we will put the country in a state of campaigning for five years, and nothing substantial will happen. Let’s hold off on starting the campaigns until things settle down…We don’t want to create tension in the country,” the opposition leader added.
