Raila reveals how Mama Ida suffered after receiving unwanted attacks on church comment as he speaks on Shakahola massacre

Raila reveals how Mama Ida suffered after receiving unwanted attacks on church comment as he speaks on Shakahola massacre.

On Friday, April 28, Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga addressed the attacks that his wife Idah Odinga had endured after she sought a reassessment of numerous Church beliefs in use throughout the country.

While speaking to supporters in Kibra, Raila stated Mama Idah had emotional pain as a result of the harsh criticism she received from religious leaders.

The leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party claimed that certain religious figures even pledged to campaign against him during the 2022 general elections.

“When Mama Idah stated that there is a need to review the doctrines of local Churches, they claimed that we were not genuine Christians,” Raila stated.

Raila, who was responding to Shakahola Massacre, noted that Mama Idah was actually right and those who bashed her should be ashamed of their actions.

He explained that Mama Idah did not call for the closure of Churches but a review of misleading doctrines, some of which led to the death of more than 100 people in Shakahola, Kilifi County.

“Mama Idah suffered insults from people who did not understand her point of view yet she was always right. We serve God, and we want these issues not to reoccur” Raila stated.

On Sunday, January 30, during the launch of the Christian Book by Archbishop Emeritus Habbakuk Abogno, Ida urged NCCK to regulate the establishment of churches and shut down those that were teaching misleading doctrines.

“We want Kenyans to subscribe to religions that are formally registered and not those whose belief systems are commodified. It is also important that we conduct training for all those who minister the word of God,” Ida remarked.

Idah’s comments resurfaced in the wake of the Shakahola Massacre which was allegedly overseen by cult leader Paul Mackenzie.

As a result, investigators exhumed 109 bodies as of Thursday, April 27, and arrested dozens of suspects including two prominent preachers at the Coast.

Paul Mackenzie, the lead pastor at Good News International Church, was charged with aiding the death of followers, radicalisation and murder.

Pastor Ezekiel Odero, on the other hand, was arrested for allegedly taking part in the Shakahola Massacre.
