Natembeya vows to work with Ruto to develop the county despite criticism from the Raila-led Azimio coalition

Natembeya vows to work with Ruto to develop the county despite criticism from the Raila-led Azimio coalition.

Speaking on Tuesday, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya said Western leaders are tired of being in the opposition.

“As Trans Nzoia, we want to reclaim our position by working with the national government,” he said.

“Raila is the one who taught us how to cooperate with the national government, he knows that county finances are not enough.”

The Trans Nzoia governor said that Western Kenya has been continuously labeled as an ‘opposition’ zone and therefore lacks state support.

Natembeya said that Kisumu, unlike other counties is developed with major highways and a modern market.

“When you visit Kisumu, it is a city, they have a highway, a port, and a modern market, is that the work of governor Anyang Nyong’o?” he said.

Natembeya has expressed a desire to collaborate on development with President William Ruto on numerous occasions.

During the recent Azimio rally in Trans Nzoia, Governor Natembeya was noticeably absent.

Wycliffe Oparanya, a former governor of Kakamega, exposed the seething discontent about absent county chiefs at opposition rallies and urged voters to deal with them.

The ODM deputy party leader claimed that giving the rallies a wide berth, even when they are the hosts, is the height of disobedience on the part of governors chosen by the opposition coalition.
