Raila was abruptly forced to end his speech as fight broke out at VIP dais in Mavoko Machakos

Raila was abruptly forced to end his speech as fight broke out at the VIP dais during a political rally in Mavoko, Machakos.

On Sunday, 12 June, Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga took his campaign to the Ukambani region.

However, tension ensued with ugly faction wars between supporters in a series of political stopovers in Machakos County.

Raila was accompanied by Wiper leader Raila Odinga, Makueni and Kitui Governors, Machakos gubernatorial candidates Wavinya Ndeti and Nzioka Waita among other leaders.

It’s during the last mega rally at Athi River where things turned worse.

Raila was on the podium addressing the gathering but was abruptly forced to end his speech after a fight broke out at the VIP dais.

“We are ready to play with the Tanga tanga team. I will play number nine, I have my team here,” these were Raila’s last words before he cut his speech.

It has been revealed the fight broke out after two camps belonging to Machakos Wiper governor candidate Wavinya Ndeti and her CCU counterpart Nzioka Waita clashed over unknown issues.

Both Ndeti and Waita never addressed the public in Athi River.

There are claims that a sitting member of Parliament physically attempted to block Waita and a Mavoko parliamentary candidate from getting near Raila at the podium sparking the fight.

“The MP was physically preventing Waita and an MP candidate from moving closer to Raila. They forced themselves closer and then tension ensued leading to the fights,” a source said.

In one of the videos, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu was captured dashing towards Raila, where she got cover behind the former PM before the Azimio media team cut the Livestream.

Bodyguards pounced on some of those who were on the dais as Raila made his speech.

When the situation became unbearable, Raila stopped his speech and left.

During the rally, Waita and Wavinya supporters were engaged in shouting battles when each of the leaders they were introduced by Raila and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
