Siaya Governor James Orengo has once again claimed that former opposition leader and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga did not die of natural causes.

“I believe that there was some intervention and if a proper inquiry is held and established, the truth will come out,” he stated.

Orengo further claimed Raila was pressured into his final trip to India, traveling with individuals he described as deeply suspicious.

“He was almost forced to go to India and to a particular institution with a company of certain individuals who I have a lot of questions to raise about them,” he revealed.

He also noted that Raila’s known medical history does not align with what killed him, and warned that Kenyans were being misled.

“The nation is being put to slumber to accept the death of Raila as natural, but I’m saying that we need to look into it,” he said.

Drawing from his experience in the former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko murder trial and the Julie Ward inquest, Orengo stressed that official explanations in high-profile deaths often collapse under scrutiny.

On ODM, he was equally direct, declaring that their revolution has been hijacked and warning that influences around Dr. Oburu Oginga risk fracturing the party.

“Our revolution has been hijacked and it is clear that ODM today is not the same party that Raila Odinga stood for over twenty years. I believe that Dr. Oburu Odinga is being influenced by those around him to make certain statements and the directions he is taking risk harming ODM,” he stated.

Orengo explained how these moves could undermine the party’s cohesion and weaken its position, raising concerns among supporters about its future stability and the preservation of Raila Odinga.

Despite this, he remained hopeful, pointing to the Linda Mwananchi movement as proof that principled young leaders are rising to reclaim Raila’s legacy.

“Linda Mwananchi is actively working to protect the interests of ODM.This is far from the end of the party. With a new generation of young and principled leaders emerging, the party is far from ending,” Orengo concluded.
