ODM Sec General, Edwin Sifuna says Lang'ata MP, Jalang’o will not retain his seat in the 2027 general election

ODM Sec General, Edwin Sifuna says Lang’ata MP, Jalang’o will not retain his seat in the 2027 general election.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and ODM Sec General has warned Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o over his allegiance with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Radio 47, Sifuna said Jalang’o will not retain his seat in 2027 in the event his expulsion from the ODM party is stayed by the Court.

The ODM Secretary General went ahead to note that he will call a National Delegates Conference to ratify the National Executive Committee’s move to expel 5 MPs from the party.

Sifuna noted that the party resolved to kick Jalang’o and other rebel MPs after they displayed blatant disrespect to the party.

Following the party’s decision to expel the rebels, the ODM Secretary-General accused the rebels of failing to exercise restraint and of disparaging the party, which is against the party’s principles and expected behavior.

According to Sifuna, the party took exception to the politician’s failure to engage in anti-government demos organized by Azimio la Umoja.

“You people know it’s politics that’s going on even the public knows that all this is politics, but every time they stand they remain adamant on their stand against party programs and embrace meeting with the president.”

He further claimed that another MP intentionally appeared before the disciplinary committee in the company of a lawyer affiliated to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Questioned on whether the party simply punished the legislators for visiting the State House, the Secretary-General disputed this position, saying that their expulsion was an accumulation of infractions that the political outfit could not tolerate.

Sifuna further accused a section of Kenya Kwanza politicians of attempting to bring down ODM.

“The have been many attempts to finish the ODM party Even if you observe those who lauded the MPs, most of them are Kenya Kwanza politicians. Because they rejoice when they see turmoil in ODM, their intention was not to advance the people’s pleas, they went there for self-interest.”

Sifuna also seized the opportunity to explain why Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris was not ousted from the party like her colleagues.

“Passaris came and apologized, however, the rest of the MPs were scornful in their utterances during the disciplinary hearing, another even came in the company of a UDA lawyer while another failed to make an appearance before the disciplinary committee.”

Jalang’o is among the five MPs who were expelled from the ODM Party; others are Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda( Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo ( Gem) and Kisumu senator Prof Tom Ojienda.
