Raila’s plan to counter Ruto’s 30 Percent proposal in Western Kenya

Raila’s plan to counter the deputy president William Ruto’s 30 Percent proposal in Western Kenya.

The Azimio One Kenya presidential candidate, Raila Amollo Odinga, has moved to counter Ruto’s proposal of a 30 percent government share in Western Kenya.

According to reports, Raila has promised the western region a total of four Cabinet slots, in addition to the National Treasury CS job offered to Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya.

He has also offered the region the Leader of Majority post in the National Assembly.

The positions will be shared within the five counties that form the Western region.

Raila has already announced that former National Assembly speaker, Kenneth Marende, will take up the position of Speaker of the Senate.

The Azimio presidential candidate also offered the region seven Principal Secretaries, five Chief Administrative Secretaries, 12 ambassadors, and 10 parastatal board chairpersons.

Raila intimated that Eugene Wamalwa will keep his Defense Cabinet Secretary role while campaigning in the region, a move intended at galvanizing the region’s roughly two million voters.

Aside from positions, the former Premier promised to launch big infrastructure projects in the five counties of Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, and Trans Nzoia in an effort to counter Ruto’s pact with Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula.

Raila’s plan is to counter Ruto’s promise to give 30 percent of his government to the region if he clinches the August 9 polls.

Mudavadi and Wetangula were tasked to deliver 70 percent of the Western region vote.
