Raila’s surprise win in Ruto’s backyard, Huruma, Langas, and Kiplombe wards in Uasin Gishu County.
Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has pulled a surprise in three wards in Deputy President William Ruto’s turf.
Raila trounced in Huruma and Langas wards in Turbo and Kapseret constituencies respectively.
Mr. Odinga was beaten by around 1,500 votes in Kiplombe, in Turbo — the home constituency of the deputy president.
Huruma has 31,660 registered voters and is cosmopolitan, with the majority being Kikuyu, Luhya, and some Luo, whereas Kiplombe is partially cosmopolitan and has 26,347 votes.
There are 24,763 voters in cosmopolitan Langas.
Forms 34A uploaded in the IEBC portal showed that Raila had improved his ratings in the three wards compared to the 2017 elections.

And although DP Ruto beat his competitor in the overall tally for Kiplombe ward, the ODM boss led in several polling stations, with Dr Ruto gaining an advantage from polling stations that are away from Eldoret town.
