Tumechoka initiative, Signature collection exercise launched by Azimio leader Raila Odinga has hit over 8 million.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s drive to collect signatures on Tumechoka platform has crossed the 8.5 million mark.

This according to a statement realesed by Azimio leader in press briefing on Saturday.

According to Azimio coalition party, the signatures are aimed at expressing dissatisfaction with the current government of President William Ruto.

“In the meantime, the signature collection which stands at eight million continues,” Usawa Kwa Wote Party leader Mwangi Wa Iria said on Saturday.

Mwangi Wa Iria added that the website keeps getting attacked but they have reported to the relevant authorities.

“We reported the attacks on our website but we are ahead of them. We are well mitigated because we are the legitimate government so to speak. So we can’t fail how to deal with them,” he said.

“Yes, they keep attacking but they cannot penetrate us.”

The initiative, which was launched on Tuesday, July 11 and intends to collect 15 million signatures.

In the restored website, Azimio changed the domain of the website to .net from the initial http:/www.tumechoka.com.

Meanwhile, Azimio announced that they will be holding another countrywide protest on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. 

In a statement read by Mwangi wa Iria, Azimio la Umoja noted that it will stage protests one day a week.

“We will be there to ensure that we force this government to listen to the people. We know that they intend to arrest and torture us but we will not relent,” Wa Iria stated.
