Renowned Reverend Timothy Njoya slams Raila Odinga for Wearing Priestly Garments

Renowned Reverend Timothy Njoya slams Raila Odinga for Wearing Priestly Garments, “Sacrilegious and Diabolical”

Raila Odinga has come under fire from a radical retired Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Renowned Reverend Timothy Njoya for wearing clerical garments.

In a statement on Twitter on Monday, 18, July, the radical reverend criticized the presidential candidate Azimio La Umoja for wearing clerical attire in a tweet.

He claimed that elevating politician Raila to the position of a high priest was not only sacrilegious but also vulgar and demonic.

Njoya questioned whether Kenya was still a secular state or had become a theocracy in light of the church’s actions.

“Isn’t this self-transposition of a politician into a high priest sacrilegious, obscene and diabolical? Doesn’t this trespass the boundaries of a secular state into a theocracy?” posed Njoya.

During a service on Sunday, July 17, Apostle Francis Musili adorned Raila in religious robes to symbolize his anointing for leadership.

Njoya stated that despite being a believer, he did not see the need for religion to enslave people.

“The fact that I believe in Christ and in myself does not make my belief religious, especially to the extent of this religious slavery and colonialism. Why should one be elected for following a religiosity from which Christ came to liberate people? I hope Kenya won’t become theocratic,” he added.

The renowned activist who championed social space and political reforms during the 80s and 90s said most politicians currently talking tough on corruption had benefited from the vice in the past.
