Friends of the deceased told the press that they were playing pool when the police officers arrived forcing them to flee.

They then ran in different directions and hoped that each of the members was safe only to later learn that their friend had been shot dead and the body taken to the mortuary.

“We have seen him today at Kerugoya Mortuary after police informed us following our storming of the station. We want to know why they took the body to the mortuary without our knowledge. We want justice.”

The region’s police commander Andrew Naibei confirmed that the incident took place on Saturday night during a police patrol.

He further noted that the policewoman involved in the incident had been apprehended and was in police custody.

“Police officers were on patrol last night when the incident happened and right now we have launched an investigation to see the family get justice,” Naibei told the press.

“I have informed the chairman of the security committee in the county. Please tell them to receive our condolences; it is very unfortunate.”
