Revealed! How GSU officers kidnapped and held Chinese national hostage

Three GSU officers exposed for being part of an international kidnapping gang after holding hostage a Chinese national on Mombasa road

Three GSU officers exposed for being part of an international kidnapping gang after holding hostage a Chinese national on Mombasa road.

Three General Service Officers have been exposed for being part of an international kidnapping ring targeting moneyed foreign nationals in the country.

The well-choreographed scheme was exposed after the three officers identified as Fredrick Mwongela Mwololo, PC Samuel Mwiti, and PC Kimwele Musyoki were arrested and arraigned in Mavoko Law Courts on Wednesday, January 17.

According to a report filed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the three-waylaid a Chinese national along Mombasa Road and blocked his path with two cars.

They bungled into one of their cars and sped off towards Machakos County. The kidnapping was executed after doing financial checks and establishing that the Chinese national had deep pockets together with his family.

“After hours of disappearance, concerned friends reported to the DCI of the businessman who never arrived at his workplace as expected, where detectives forensically traced him to Mua Hills in Machakos,” DCI stated.

“But even as a team was being deployed to the area in search for him, the panic-stricken victim resurfaced at Athi River and narrated his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers who also robbed him violently.”

DCI’s report added, “Detectives established that five men including a Chinese national (the mastermind), a taxi driver, and the three police officers had executed the kidnapping, and upon arriving at the Mua Hills, the mastermind called the victim’s family back in China demanding for an unestablished amount of ransom which was wired to a bank account in China.”

After the money was deposited, the gang’s accomplices in China confirmed that the family had complied, and the victim was released.

DCI officers who started investigating the case picked two cars that were allegedly involved in the kidnapping ordeal.

On Friday, January 12, the taxi was traced to Rongai, and the owner was arrested. He however informed the police that on the day in question, a friend of his had borrowed his car while he (the owner) took his kids to school on the reporting day.

Investigations revealed that the named suspect who is still at large was a former staff a the victim’s company, and had been in constant communication with the arrested officers. Indeed, forensic analysis placed the four at the scene of the crime.

The police recovered the second car at Mlolongo Police Station.

However, DCI revealed that they were working with Interpol to arrest the mastermind of the kidnapping ordeal who is based in China.
