Russia Questions Existence of US-Funded Biolab in Kenya
Russia Questions Existence of US-Funded Biolab in Kenya Allaying Fears Whether It Harmless or Sinister Motive.
Russia has questioned about existence of Biolabs allegedly funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).
DTRA is an entity directly linked to the American government.
In a statement on Wednesday, May 11, the Russian Embassy in Kenya alleges the lab stationed at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is among facilities established by DTRA across the world including Ukraine.
Russia now questions whether the lab is harmless or was developed with a sinister motive including biological warfare.

Statement; Russia Questions Biolabs in Kenya
“Reports indicate that Kenya is one of the countries where the DTRA, the agency that funded labs in Ukraine, has put up a biolab at the KEMRI,” read the statement in part.
Russia questions whether the operation of the lab was in synchrony with the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) under the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
The BWC is a multinational convention that prohibits the use of certain types of weapons of mass destruction. It makes it illegal to create, manufacture, acquire, transfer, stockpile, and use biological and toxin weapons.
If Russia considers the lab to be a threat, it can take the subject to the UN Security Council, as stipulated in Article 6 of the treaty.
The DTRA is a US Department of Defense combat support agency that also collaborates with international partners to combat weapons of mass destruction.
Following its invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has taken issue with Nairobi for the second time.
The Russian Embassy chastised State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena in February for connecting the high cost of living to the conflict.
Meanwhile, Kenya has tried not to take sides with either of the countries despite Kenya’s ambassador to the United Nations issuing a strong condemnation against Russia at the start of the invasion.
