President William Ruto has pledged to donate a tent to a church in Kajiado County following a request by the church’s leaders.
Speaking on Sunday, December 1, during an interdenominational church service in Kimana, Kajiado County, President Ruto stated that he has been an evangelistic before and therefore he knows the importance of spreading the gospel.
The Head of State promised to honour the church’s request adding that he would donate the tent together with chairs.
“I want to thank you our spiritual fathers. I have been an evangelist. I preached in many parts of the country when I was in the university. I know the importance of people who preach the gospel. And because you have requested me for a tent for preaching the gospel, I am in for it.
“I will send you that tent very fast. I will send the bigger one together with chairs. Please assure be you’ll preach to our nation,” President Ruto remarked.
During the service, the president emphasized that there is no competition between the church and the state and urged the church to steer clear of conflict.

He insisted that the church and the government must work together for the greater good of the people of Kenya.
“Let us avoid conflict. There is no need of arguments and competition. There is no competition between the church and others or between the church and the state. We are one partners. The church and the state must work together,” President Ruto stated.
He added, “I want to promise Kenyans that no religion, community or region is going to be left behind. We are going to build this nation together. I’m committed to getting rid of the politics of division.”
President Ruto’s remarks come after Bishop Philip Anyolo of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi recently directed the Soweto Catholic Church to refund a donation by the president.
