Ruto might be hoping to use RSF to maintain power- Martha Karua

People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has raised questions over the government’s move to allow Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leaders to hold a meeting in Nairobi
People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has raised questions over the government’s move to allow Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leaders to hold a meeting in Nairobi.
Speaking on Wednesday, February 26, Karua questioned whether President William Ruto intends to use RSF to maintain power.
Karua demanded that the Head of State clarify RSF’s activities in the country.
“Maybe he is hoping to one day use the RSF here in Kenya to maintain power. He will have to tell us why they are here. What does he want from them? Is it the gold from Darfur? Is it personal? Or Is he thinking of a rogue, unofficial force in Kenya?” she posed.
The PLP party leader also demanded answers from President Ruto on whether RSF is involved in the cases of abductions that have been witnessed in the country.
“You remember we once said in a statement and its true that abductors in Kenya include foreigners. I am wondering if he can clarify whether the RSF is part of the abductors. At that time, the information we had was that there were people from some neighboring East African countries. Can he clarify whether these are some of them?” Karua added.

Her remarks come a day after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleged that President Ruto is doing business with RSF chief Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo popularly known as Hemedti.
Speaking on Monday, February 24 night, Gachagua claimed that gold is being smuggled from Sudan to Kenya and then exported to Dubai.
“You have heard Sudan is now threatening our tea exports to Sudan, and what is happening is that the President has put his personal and commercial interests ahead of the country’s interests. They are doing business with RSF chief of gold that is being gotten from Sudan, brought to Nairobi and the taken to Dubai,” Gachagua claimed.
The Kenyan government has faced sharp criticism in recent weeks after allowing RSF to operate in the country.
On Sunday, RSF and a coalition of allied political and armed groups signed a political charter in Nairobi to establish a parallel government in Sudan.
