Ruto thanks Wiper Party MP after joining him at State House meeting
President William Ruto has praised Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna for joining his administration in what the Head of State described as a bold move
President William Ruto has praised Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna for joining his administration in what the Head of State described as a bold move to advance development in his constituency.
In a statement released on Friday, October 10, following a meeting with leaders from the Lower Eastern region at State House, Nairobi, the President expressed optimism about Kenya’s economic trajectory while emphasizing the need for collective effort to accelerate growth.
“We have come a long way in stabilising our economy. The task is to accelerate our economic growth and create wealth and jobs. This calls for our collective commitment and focus,” President Ruto stated. “We will march on together, every step of our way, for the long-term transformation of Kenya.”
The President recognized MP Nguna, a member of the opposition Wiper Party, for his decision to align with the administration’s development agenda.
“I especially thank Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna of the Wiper Party for his bold move to join our team to push forward the development agenda in his constituency,” President Ruto said.

The meeting with Lower Eastern leaders is part of President Ruto’s ongoing engagement strategy that has seen him host delegations from across the country at State House over the past several months.
These sessions have focused on evaluating development projects and gathering grassroots feedback on priority areas that require government attention.
MP Nguna’s decision to attend the State House meeting running concurrently with the Wiper Party NDC meeting comes as the Kenya Kwanza government intensifies efforts to bring Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka into the ruling coalition.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recently revealed that he continues to pursue the former Vice President, urging him to leave the opposition and join President Ruto’s government.
Speaking to community leaders from Kitui County on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, DP Kindiki characterized Kalonzo as an upright individual who has unfortunately associated himself with politicians advancing divisive agendas.
“Kalonzo is a noble and decent man, but he has aligned himself with people promoting divisive rhetoric. I have still not given up on that brother of mine,” Kindiki stated.
“We cannot accept our brother, a learned man and a scholar, to be influenced by people promoting sectarianism.”
