Ruto unveils cabinet list but fails 50% women pledge as he retains two of Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet secretaries.
President William Ruto on Tuesday, September 27, unveiled the list of Cabinet Secretaries who will deliver on pledges he made to Kenyans.
However, his cabinet list contained 7 women failing to meet the 50% he had promised during the Kenya Kwanza campaigns.
Speaking during the Kenya Kwanza women charter conference in June, the President had promised to allocate 11 slots in the cabinet to women, which translates to 50 percent.
This was among seven of the pledges he made to women if elected.
He pledged that his administration would implement the two-thirds gender rule within the first three months in office.
Meanwhile, President Ruto retained two of Uhuru’s administration, Simon Chelugui, and Monica Juma.
