An elderly man attempting to get an audience with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua blocked by security officials.
This happened at Kangai Primary School grounds, where DP Gachagua was gracing the burial of 17 people who died after consuming illicit brew.
The man was seen making his way to the VIP dias with a likely petition to the deputy president.
However, security officers on standby intercepted and unceremoniously ejected him as the other mourners looked on.
Meanwhile, speaking at the mass funeral of the 17, Gachagua blamed the judicial system for supposedly allowing loopholes through which brewers escape.

“Our court of law, despite being presided over by parents, is working against the very people they serve by giving court orders to allow merchants of death to continue selling poison to our children. As a national government, we have taken decisive action. What is remaining are the courts of law to do their work,” he said.
Speaking at the same event, Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru sanctioned the immediate closure of drinking joints in the county.
She spoke on Saturday, February 17, while attending the funeral of 17 people who died after consuming illicit liquor.
Waiguru ordered all the establishments to be closed and the process of varying their operational permits to begin immediately.
“We have reached our end. I want you to allow me and give me protection. Today I want to announce that all bars in the county have been closed and a new process of verifying the licenses has begun. The county government has withdrawn all the licenses with immediate effect,” said Waiguru.
