Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has cautioned the constituents of Malava Constituency to be wary of President William Ruto's aide, Farouk Kibet, as he makes frequent visits to the area.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has cautioned the constituents of Malava Constituency to be wary of President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, as he makes frequent visits to the area.
Farouk has been visiting Malava with empowerment as he comments on the oncoming by-election.
The constituency has been without an MP after the death of their legislator, Malulu Injendi.
Injendi died in February this year.
In his numerous visits, Farouk has seemed to influence the locals into considering one of the fallen MP’s children.
In his reaction, Khalwale said Farouk was not meaning well for the Malava constituents.
He asked the president’s aide to keep off the politics of Malava and allow the people there to exercise their democratic right independently.
“Farouk Kibet has been moving around this constituency for a long time. He is not coming here because he has our interests at heart. He is coming here because they fear that we are unsatisfied with the president for not fulfilling his campaign promises, even after voting for him. They are in a panic and hence want to take over the Malava constituency,” Khalwale said.

Khalwale insisted that the Malava constituents would not entertain nonnatives to influence their politics.
“We don’t need an outsider running up and down like a night runner to remind us who we should vote for. I respect the people of Malava 100%, and my respect will include me not interfering with the election. The people will decide on their own who becomes the MP. I will walk with whoever is elected and show them where Malulu left off,” the senator stated.
Meanwhile, the constituency is currently warming up for the minipoll, with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) already fully constituted.
Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) secretary general Seth Panyako is among the candidates eyeing the seat.
