Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has cautioned President William Ruto that the 2027 general elections will be difficult for him.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has cautioned President William Ruto that the 2027 general elections will be difficult for him.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has cautioned President William Ruto that the 2027 general elections will be difficult for him.

Speaking on Saturday, October 25, Khalwale said President Ruto will realize he needs him when the political tide turns against him in 2027.

“President Ruto, let me tell you, in 2027, things are going to be difficult for you. That is when you will realize that you need Khalwale here in Kakamega to succeed. That is when you will know you need Seth Panyako in Malava to succeed, ”Khalwale stated.

The UDA Senator noted that the development projects he is demanding in the Western region are a token of appreciation for the votes the region gave President Ruto in the 2022 general election.

“The development we are demanding is not because of any by-election votes. It’s because we want appreciation for the votes we gave the President. Whether we support his candidate or our own, he will still need us in 2027,” Khalwale stated.

The Kakamega Senator also took a swipe at Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, accusing him of misleading President Ruto about his influence in Kakamega County.

“Mudavadi, who is deceiving you that he has influence here in Kakamega, if he truly has any influence, let him start from Vihiga County,” he added.

Khalwale’s warning to President Ruto comes days after the UDA Party issued him a 14-day ultimatum to explain why he is supporting a rival candidate in the upcoming Malava by-election.

In a letter on October 14, the party’s Disciplinary Committee noted that the activities that Khalwale has been engaging in contravene the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

“The Disciplinary Committee of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is in receipt of information and evidence of your various political activities, utterances, and associations relevant hereto and that are widely circulated in the media and therefore well within the public domain.

“These include, but are not limited to, your open support and participation in the campaigns of a candidate from a different political party and who is competing with the UDA candidate in the scheduled by-election for Member of Parliament, Malava Constituency,” the letter read in part.

The disciplinary team further accused Khalwale of acting against the interests of the ruling party, saying his conduct amounted to disloyalty and gross misconduct.

The committee ordered Khalwale to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

Khalwale has publicly thrown his weight behind Panyako, who is running on a DAP-K ticket in the Malava by-election, even joining him on the campaign trail.
