Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has held talks with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader Geoffrey Osotsi, days after skipping his party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting, chaired by the party leader in Vipingo, Kilifi County.

In a statement posted on his social media channels on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, the senator, who has in recent times been at loggerheads with ODM over the party’s direction ahead of 2027, shared a light moment with his Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) counterpart, who is also a principal within the United Opposition, George Natembeya, at his Senate office.

Osotsi stated that Governor Natembeya, who has been critical of the government under his banner, “Tawe Movement”, paid a courtesy call to him at his Senate office. According to him, they discussed emerging issues affecting Western Kenya.

He added that they deliberated on the destiny of their region, noting that they share a common purpose of safeguarding their communities’ interests.

Osotsi said, “I held a candid engagement with my big brother, Trans Nzoia Governor H.E. George Natembeya, who called on me at my office at the Senate of the Republic of Kenya. We reflected on the emerging issues shaping our country and deliberated on the shared destiny of the Mulembe nation, united by a common purpose to safeguard our people’s interests and chart a progressive path forward.”

This comes days after Ososti missed ODM’s CMC meeting, where the Siaya senator and party leader Oburu Odinga was tasked with beginning structured talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on coalition formation.

Oburu Odinga defended his absence, stating that he had caught a flight to South Africa and was not in a position to attend the high-level talks.
