Senator Sifuna criticizes IEBC selection panel over interviews
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has faulted the IEBC Selection panel over their interview questions posed to candidates seeking to be the next chairperson of the electoral body.
In a statement dated Tuesday, March 25, Sifuna opined that the questions being asked could not bring out the unique attributes of the candidates.
He described the questions by the panel members as long and windy.
Therefore, it would be difficult to judge who is the most qualified candidate for the job.
“I’m not sure what this IEBC selection panel is looking for in these applicants. The members have long windy questions that don’t seem to be helping to bring out the unique attributes of the candidates that qualify them for the job,” he wrote on his X page.

The selection panel has been conducting interviews for candidates seeking to lead the commission ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Among those who have been interviewed include Charles Nyachae and Anne Amadi – who is the former Judiciary Chief Registrar.
The panel had shortlisted 11 candidates for the chairperson role with other 105 people shortlisted for the commissioners’ positions.
Others who are set to appear for the chairperson interviews are Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene, Robert Akumu Asembo and Saul Simiyu Wasilwa.
