Seven people killed after lorry collides with Matatu in Kajiado
At least seven people have died after a public service vehicle collided with a lorry at Korompoi Global Estate near Kitengela on the Namanga-Isinya Highway on Saturday morning, August 9.
The deceased were on board a Nailepu Sacco matatu.
Police said the matatu was trying to overtake when it collided with the lorry coming from Kitengela headed to Kajiado town.
Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Simon Lomitari confirmed the nasty accident.
The bodies were taken to the Saitoti Hospital morgue.
“It was in the morning, at around 9 am, when the nasty accident occurred. We lost seven people; three men and four women. Their bodies have been taken to the Saitoti Hospital morgue,” Lomitari said.
The survivors were taken to various hospitals across the Isinya Sub County.
Locals helped the police in rescue operations.
According to Lomitari, the lorry was being driven on the long lane when it collided with the matatu headed to Kitengela from Kajiado town.
The accident came in quick succession after two others on Friday and Thursday.
On Friday, August 8, 25 people died after the school bus they were travelling in overturned in Kisumu’s Mamboleo area.
The bus rolled after the driver failed to negotiate the vast Coptic roundabout, which is known to be a black spot.

Nineteen people died on the spot, while six others succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
On Thursday, August 7, at least nine people died after the company they were travelling in got crashed by a cargo train.
The Kenya Pipeline employees were heading home when their bus was crushed at the Morendat junction.
According to witnesses, the driver of the bus was not aware of the oncoming train when it proceeded at the level crossing.
The train carrying rolls of coiled steel dragged the bus for a further 200 metres.
Six people died on the spot, with the three others succumbing to injuries at the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital.
