80-year-old man hacked to death by unknown assailants in Meru, eyes and tongue missing.

Police in Igembe North constituency, Meru County, have launched an investigation into an incident in which unknown assailants killed an 80-year-old man.

Kilea Ntoinyingi was found dead in his home in Mwerongondu village. He had a cut on his neck and his eyes and tongue had been removed.

His wife was rushed to the Nyambene Level 4 Hospital with severe cuts and injuries from the night ordeal.

It is believed that the gang did not steal anything from the deceased as police recovered Sh8,000 from his pocket.

This comes just days after Ntoinyingi’s rented houses in Laare market were razed by unidentified individuals.

The deceased’s daughter-in-law said she had left him the previous night but when she knocked on his gate several times in the morning, no one answered.

Worried, she called neighbours who jumped through the gate and found the body lying in front of the house.

Confirming the incident, Igembe North Sub-County Police Commander, Mr Adasion Njagi, said they were still processing the crime scene and would soon track down and arrest the culprits.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Nyambene Level Four Hospital for post-mortem examination.
