A man has left many surprised after walking into a church in Siaya while other congregants were deep in prayers and allegedly pooped on a statue of Jesus.
Police in Siaya County are investigating an incident where an unidentified man gained entry into a local catholic church before allegedly defecating on a statue of Jesus.
The heinous incident that occurred at St. Andrew’s Bondo Catholic Church was reported to the Siaya police station for further investigation.
According to a report by Citizen Digital, CCTV footage showed a man in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers stealthily entering the church while congregants were deeply immersed in prayers.
“The heinous act was reported at Bondo police station by the parish priest, Rev. Father Edwin Obudho,” said Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo.

Kimaiyo added that further reports indicate that the statue, which has been at the church altar, was reported missing.
“Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was established that a stranger who was dressed in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers entered the church hall when a few congregants were deep in prayer,” Kimaiyo added.
The suspect is then said to have proceeded to the upper gallery where he had hidden the statue. He would then descend to the altar where he picked the statue.
“He then defecated on the statue before exiting the church. He hid the defaced statue underneath the pews,” police noted.
Efforts to trace the suspect are ongoing.
