Sifuna expresses readiness to collaborate with Matiang’i to unseat Ruto
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced his readiness to collaborate with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Kajiado during the burial of Kisii Governor Simba Arati’s sister on Sunday, August 10, 2025, ODM Secretary-General Sifuna emphasised the need for all forces of good to come together regardless of their backgrounds or political histories.
He stressed that unity is essential to bring about change in the country.

Sifuna said that it does not matter who a person is, which county they come from, or their history; if they agree with the call for change expressed by the people, they must work together. He mentioned that whether it is Matiang’i, Kalonzo, or himself, they need to put aside differences and unite behind a common goal to rescue the nation.
“The forces of good must find each other. Na nilisema wazi mbele ya Taifa ya kwamba, haijalishi wewe ni nani, county yako no gani, historia yako ni gani, kama unakubaliana na kauli ambayo imetolewa hapa na wananchi, sisi sote lazima tufanye kazi pamoja. Ikue ni Matiangi, ikue ni Kalonzo, ikue ni Sifuna, tunataka hizi pipe zote ziingie shimo drum moja,” Sifuna said.

According to Sifuna, despite the above leaders being in opposition, he is ready to work with them as long as they have a shared goal of making sure the current regime doesn’t go past 2027.
“Mimi sifuna niko tayari kufanya kazi na mtu yeyote ambaye ataniambia lazima tukomboe hii nchi; hutuwezi kuendelea hivi. Mimi nilisema haijalishi ni kitu gani unafanya,” he added.
Maintaining his criticism of the current government, Sifuna noted that many communities, including Kitale, Bungoma, and Kisii, are increasingly frustrated with the administration.
With cases of extrajudicial killings escalating, He pointed out that the government to be formed in 2027 must prioritise protecting the lives of Kenyans over infrastructure projects such as market construction, which he implied have been the focus of the current regime, with them ignoring the lives of Kenyan populace.
“The government that we will form in 2027 is not the one that will build markets as they are currently, but the one that protects lives as the most important aspect for us in Kenya,” he concluded.
