Truth behind US government sanctioning DP Gachagua & Ichung'wah over Kenyatta's Northlands invasion

Truth behind US government sanctioning DP Gachagua & Ichung’wah over Kenyatta’s Northlands invasion.

On Thursday, March 30, Kenyans posted widely on social media a bogus press release from the US Treasury sanctioning Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to the document, the DP and Ichung’wah were banned from visiting the US as a result of the March 27 raid on the Northlands City Project, which is owned by the Kenyatta family.

Trade CS Moses Kuria and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro were also included on the list.

However, a search on the official website of the US Treasury, established that the press statement was fake.

The sanctions, according to the false statement, were issued on March 29th.

It was established that only four statements were released by the US Treasury on Wednesday and all of them touched on the US government’s economic policies.

On the other hand, the US Treasury can only issue economic and trade sanctions based on a number of offences.

In contrast to the attack on the Northlands farm, the crimes must also directly impact the US.

The US Embassy in Kenya also flagged the screenshot as fake.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Kwanza leaders also distanced themselves from the raid on the farm of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s property.

The farm located along the Easter Bypass was raided by goons who looted sheep worth Ksh70 million and destroyed an unknown number of trees.
