Ugunja Member of Parliament, Opiyo Wandayi has demanded that Davis Chirchir, the cabinet secretary for energy and petroleum, resign before Raila Odinga exposes abuses in the fuel industry.
The minority leader in the national assembly criticized Chirchir’s docket for being unable to address the rising fuel cost.
Speaking at St. James ACK Church in Vihiga county, the ODM politician called upon all government officials involved in the scandal to start packing ahead of Raila’s revelation.
“People are lamenting about the cost of living. The other day, I heard a government CS indicate that fuel prices would hit KSh 300 per litre.
Yesterday, Baba said he’d reveal all the scandalous activity in the oil importation. I want to call the corrupt leaders in that sector, led by the Energy CS, to start packing,” he said.
The Azimio lawmaker accused the government of blaming the ongoing Israel-Hamas war for the continuous surge in fuel prices instead of addressing it directly.

This comes after Raila promised to release a full dossier on the government-to-government fuel deal with Saudi Arabia.
Raila argued that government officials pocket KSh 30 for every litre of petrol.
He said that the fuel prices ought to read KSh 187 and not the current KSh 217.
As per the Azimio leader, the government failed to embrace an Open Tender System (OTS) that allows different firms to quote their prices while the best tender wins the deal.
“Hustlers Wanaumia” Instead, the government signed a government-to-government scheme with Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia for them to earn a commission.
“The government-to-government scheme signed by the governments of Kenya, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia is a scam. I can say here without fear of contradiction that out of the KSh 217 we pay per litre, KSh 30 goes to some people’s pockets. The real pay should be KSh 187,” said Raila.
