Stop extrajudicial killings and abductions – ODM Party tells Ruto government

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has called on the government to end extrajudicial killings and abductions in the country.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has called on the government to end extrajudicial killings and abductions in the country.
In a statement on Friday, June 13, ODM reminded the government of the 10-point memorandum of understanding signed by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga on March 7 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
“Stop killing Kenyans, Stop killing the youth, Stop abductions. This is what we agreed on March 7. We must embrace cohesion and not divisions,” ODM stated.
ODM’s statement comes after the mysterious death of a Voi-based teacher, Albert Ojwang, while in police custody.
Ojwang was arrested in Homa Bay County and transported to Central Police Station, where he passed away.

According to an autopsy conducted on Tuesday by Pathologist Bernard Midia, Ojwang died as a result of a head injury and neck compressions.
“The cause of death is very clear. A head injury, neck compression, and we also have other injuries on other parts of the body that are pointing towards assault. When you combine all the injuries in the body, they are consistent with a struggle,” Midia said.
The National Police Service (NPS) had initially claimed that the teacher died after allegedly banging his head against a wall.
Meanwhile, James Mukhwana, a police officer attached to Central Police Station, has been arrested in connection with Ojwang’s death.
The officer was apprehended on Thursday and is currently being held at the Capitol Hill Police Station.
