Sudan Foreign Minister protests Kenya’s invitation to attend London Conference, to address the rising hostilities in Sudan.

Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Ali Youssif, expressed disappointment regarding Kenya’s invitation to attend an international humanitarian conference in London, England, to address the rising hostilities in Sudan.

Speaking during a virtual press conference on Monday, April 14, Youssif criticised Kenya’s invitation to the peace summit, claiming the East African nation is among the countries backing the rebellious Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to him, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Chad were the most notorious countries that he claimed heavily supported the RFS to destabilise Sudan.

He indicated that the UAE was the RSF’s main supporter, while Chad opened its territory for logistical support and Kenya hosted conferences to undermine Sudan’s unity.

During the presser, Youssif revealed that the RSF militants were using drones operated by external parties to target vital services after being pushed out of Khartoum, calling the attacks full-fledged crimes.

The Sudanese minister also expressed his government’s displeasure at not being invited, despite the United Kingdom’s assurances that the meeting would focus on humanitarian issues.

On Sunday, April 13, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi travelled to England to attend the London Conference, which seeks to bolster peace in the volatile Sudan.

While announcing Mudavadi’s attendance, President William Ruto’s administration reaffirmed its open-door policy toward the warring Sudanese factions, including the RSF.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mudavadi is also expected to advocate for a Sudanese-owned political process with the supportive role of external actors.

Besides attending the Sudan peace talks, the Prime CS will similarly oversee the completion of Kenya’s obligations to enable the implementation of the Nairobi Bus Rapid Transit Line.

Meanwhile, the latest criticism by Sudan comes barely two days after the foreign nation accused Kenya of planning to host RSF once again in Nairobi for the second conference.

Sudan, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Sunday condemned Nairobi’s plan to host the rebel forces, claiming that RSF was responsible for war against specific ethnic groups in Darfur.
