Swiss Orders Kenya to Clear Pending Corruption Cases in order to repatriate Ksh233 million Stolen From Kenyans.

The Swiss government has asked Kenya’s government to expedite the resolution of pending corruption cases in order to assist the repatriation of Ksh233 million held in Swiss custody and thought to have been stolen from taxpayers.

The Swiss government stated that the money is being held since the cases on the matter are still pending during a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, May 20.

Uhuru and President Igazio Cassis agreed that the Kenyan and Swiss governments would work together to expedite the repatriation of cash.

The two heads of state emphasized the importance of establishing systems to prevent criminal gains from being stored abroad.

Swiss Orders Kenya is in line with Kenya’s commitment to the principles of the framework for the Return of Assets from Corruption and Crime in Kenya (FRACCK) that was signed by the Governments of Kenya, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Jersey.

Kenyatta expressed Kenya’s intention to revitalize the two nations’ long-standing commercial, economic, and investment links.

President Ignazio and Uhuru also signed a letter of intent to collaborate on science and research.

The Letter of Intent builds on last year’s Agreement on Training Cooperation for International Peace Missions, which was signed on October 13 to improve training cooperation for international peace missions.

During the visit, commissioned the Kenyan Chancery in the Swiss capital of Bern.

Uhuru urged Swiss manufacturing companies to increase their foothold in Kenya by expanding and diversifying their manufacturing capacities.

“We have some companies firmly established in Kenya and now we can help them grow through the free trade agreement.

“By using Kenya as a manufacturing base they can create jobs, and exchange expertise in many different areas. So I believe the potential is tremendous and I think there’s a lot of work ahead of us,” Uhuru stated.
