A teacher, an official in just concluded KCPE, KPSEA exams collapses, dies moments after delivering papers in Tharaka Nithi.

Humphrey Njeru Kiria, 40, the head teacher of Ntakani Primary School, is said to have suddenly collapsed before he died while delivering KCPE and KPSEA examination papers to the Muthambi subcounty director of education on Tuesday.

According to reports, Kiria died 30 minutes later at a hospital within the subcounty while undergoing treatment.

Eastern regional police boss Joseph Ole Napeiyan confirmed the incident.

The now-deceased was said to be asthmatic, and the attack he had was due to the prevalent weather conditions.

“It was reported by the area director of education that yesterday at around 6.30 pm while receiving KCPE/KPSEA examination answer scripts from centre manager at Muthambi sub-county headquarters (Marima), one Humphrey Njeru Kiria, 40, and the headteacher Ntakani primary school suddenly collapsed and was rushed to nearby Muthambi health centre where he was diagnosed to have respiratory distress and became unconscious,” a police report stated. 

His body was booked into the Chuka General Hospital morgue ahead of postmortem. 

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into the incident.
